The Old Town School of Folk Music, in Chicago, has announced the lineup for their 2006 Chicago Folk and Roots Festival, which will take place July 8th and 9th. Among the artists performing are young traditional Cajun bands The Lost Bayou Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys, the Read My Hips Belly Dance Troupe, Congolese Rumba ensemble Kekele, The Refugee All-Stars of Sierra Leone, Japanese-style drumming group Kaiju Daiko and New Orleans soul queen Irma Thomas.
The festival will also feature a slew of classes and workshops from The Old Town School's talented teaching faculty, as well as lots of music for the younger set, food and crafts. Best of all, the festival is free! Just remember to follow the general rules for how to make the most out of a music festival, and you'll have a great time!
