Portuguese Fado Music 101

Thursday March 8, 2007
Portuguese Fado Music has a great deal in common with the blues. Both genres have roots in country and folk music but, through multicultural blending, became widely popular as an urban style. Both blues and fado sing of bittersweet lost love, pain, heartache, death and the general misery of the human condition. Additionally, both blues and fado are well known for their divas - those powerful female singers who can command a room with just their voice, often moving the audience to tears. Learn more about fado, Portugal's magnificent contribution to world music: Fado Music 101.

Hello
I’ve just came back from a travel in Mali and I discovered a young female singer coming from the Dogon country, her name is Déné Issébéré. Her new album is wonderful! I’m a great fan!!! The album is not available yet in stores but I have found his Web site www.deneissebere.net on which I bought the album without problems. I also managed to find her myspace http://www.myspace.com/deneissebere . I have heard her a few days ago on France inter and RFI. Did somebody hear? Many people says that she’s the new gold voice of Mali. What do you think about that? Pipo …….
