2009 World Music Grammy Awards Nominees are In!

It's Grammy time again! As usual, the the nominees in the world music categories are bizarre. It's not that any bad records have been chosen, per se, it's just that the ones that were chosen are a bit odd. A couple of the nominated albums were so obscure that I actually had to go look them up and listen to them (and I'm about as tapped-in as they come), and lots of albums are in the wrong categories. In my opinion, anyway.

But it's still fun to see who gets nominated and who ends up winning, so though I find them slightly irrelevant here in our little world music niche, I still enjoy the Grammy Awards. To spice it up even further, I've decided to hold a contest in the world music forum. All you have to do is pick your pony from each of the seven world music-related categories and post them in a message. Snarky commentary is definitely acceptable. When the winners are announced, whoever got the most correct is the winner! The prize? Eternal fame and glory. What more could you want?
