...and who doesn't? Well, I was reminded, after talking a bit about Enya's recent CD of yuletide music, And Winter Came, that many people aren't actually huge fans. In fact, there seems to be a love/hate situation regarding Enya's music, which I think is totally great. I have mixed feeling about Enya's music myself, in fact, but what I love most about it is that it gets people talking. Is Enya's music pure enough to be considered Celtic, or is it totally New Age? Are Enya's explorations of totally new and different sounds a good thing, or do they water down her style? There are no right or wrong answers to these questions, but I love that they make people think about the music that they're listening to. There is definitely a cultural movement afoot whereby music consumption is sort of blind - people listen to whatever gets played on the radio - and I'm thankful for anyone who challenges that tradition.But if you are a fan of Enya's progressive Celtic sounds, have a listen to some of these semi-related CDs... you might find something new that you love.
