About.com Guide to World Music

Like all the Guides at About.com, I'm a real person. I would like to hear about any suggestions, ideas, or questions you might have. You can email me at worldmusic.guide@about.com.

F.A.Q.

Q. Will you review my CD?
A. If it fits the criteria of the World Music site, then maybe, although I make no guarantees. Please feel free to contact me and I will give you the information as to where you can send it.
Q. You're not covering my favorite genre of world music!
A. Please let me know what that favorite genre is and I'll try to come up with some info about it! The world is a big place, and world music is a big topic, and I'm doing what I can; in the long-term, I'd like to touch on every genre of world music, but that's a huge task. But again, let me know, and I'll do what I can!
Q. I heard a great new CD and I think you should know about it!
A. Super! Let me know, and I'll try to find it to review it! In the meantime, you might consider posting in the world music forum to see if anyone else has heard it as well, you might get a great conversation started!
Q. I'm looking for a song that I heard on the radio, can you help me?
A. Maybe. Give me as much information as you can. If you know the radio station and the time of day, that's a great start. If you can remember some of the lyrics, even phonetically, I might be able to help. Give me your best guess as to the language the track was sung in, a description of what instruments you heard and recognized, how fast or slow the song seemed, if it seemed happy or sad, etc.
Q. Will you come check out and review my live show?
A. I most certainly can't make any promises here. I live in Southwest Louisiana, and although I travel frequently, I can't guarantee that we'll be crossing paths any time soon. However, feel free to send me a list of your tour dates; you never know, I just might be able to show up!
Q. Are you available to write liner notes for my world music CD?
A. Maybe! Be in touch regarding the project and I'll be happy to look it over!
Q. Can you help me find a world music [agent/manager/record label/venue to play in]?
A. That's not really my purview. Check out the Music Careers Site at About.com for great information on how to work through this point in your career, though!
Q. Are you available for radio or print interviews?
A. Generally speaking, yes. Get in touch!
