Debo Band is the brainchild of Ethiopian-American saxophonist and ethnomusicologist Danny Mekonnen, pictured here, riling up the crowd. Under his direction, they've gone from an underground favorite in Boston to a world-renowned band, playing such notable venues and festivals as Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, globaFEST, The Kennedy Center, and the Chicago World Music Festival, as well as two tours in Ethiopia, where they played major festivals.
