Though they were a last-minute replacement for a group who didn't make it to Festival International 2009 (a fairly common occurrence at world music festivals due to the hassles of international travel), Morikeba Kouyate and his group were a very welcome addition. Kouyate plays traditional Senegalese kora music, with the modern twist of a backing band (traditionally, kora music is either solo or with a very small ensemble of drums and balafon/xylophone). Kora music has always been a favorite of mine, and Kouyate certainly does it justice.
