Walter Mouton has never recorded a full-length album, nor has he spent much time touring outside of Louisiana, so he's not particularly well-known except among musicians and die-hard dancers in Cajun Country, who almost universally acknowledge him as the finest living Cajun accordion player. Louisiana Folk Roots, an organization dedicated to preserving Cajun and Creole music and culture, teamed up with Festival International to present "A Tribute to Walter Mouton," in honor of the fact that he announced his retirement this year from his standing gig at La Poussiere dance club, where he played every Saturday night for over 35 years.
A number of well-known musicians, including members of Walter's band, but also some special guests (such as Wayne Toups, a modern Cajun music favorite) played with and for Walter at the show.
