The 23rd Jewish Music Festival starts today (3/22) in
San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. It's always an amazing event, programming Jewish music from across the board. This year's festival features
Hasidic cantor Benzion Miller, Israeli percussionist Chen Zimbalista, and
klezmer-
punk band
Golem, among others. I love the concept of this festival, and I think it's great that the organizers really strive to keep it fresh and interesting by combining so many different styles of music which fall under the cultural umbrella of Judaism. Festival events run until March 30, so if you're in the Bay Area, check out their schedule and try to catch a performance - if you're a world music fan, I assure you that something on
the schedule will pique your interest, and tickets are conveniently available a la carte.
